HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy
Football
Contest open
to those who are 18 years of age or older at the time of
registration (if the age of majority in a jurisdiction is
different than 18, you must be of the age of majority within
your jurisdiction to be eligible to receive a prize) with a
valid internet e-mail address at the time of
registration.
This contest is open only to legal residents of the 50
United States, the District of Columbia or Canada. Contest
is void in Arizona, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana,
Vermont, the province of Quebec and any other state or
province which prohibits contests of this sort. Persons from
those states or provinces may play and have their places
noted in the standings, but ARE NOT eligible to win any
prizes. By entering this contest to win prizes, you hereby
represent and warrant that you are not a resident of the
aforementioned states or provinces. Canadian winners may be
required to take and pass a time mathematical skill testing
question.
This contest is void
where prohibited or restricted by law. This contest is
subject to all federal, state, provincial and local
laws.
Your participation in HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy Football
constitutes your acknowledgement and agreement that you have
read, understood, and agree to be bound by all of the terms
of these rules.
HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy Football is a contest of
skill. Chances of winning are dependent on the total number
of entries received and the skill used in choosing your
players.
All
taxes associated with prize winnings are the sole
responsibility of the winner.
Employees of HeySportsFans (and their families) and
HeySportsFans directors, managers, officers, partners,
agents, contractors, suppliers, and distributors (and their
families), as well as employees of any hotel, venue, or
prize provider participating in this contest (and their
families) are not eligible.
To participate in
HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy Football, you must provide
your name, address, city, state, zip code, country, phone
number, e-mail address, date of birth, and user ID. Each
participant must have a unique email address. In addition
you must provide either credit card billing information or
payment in full in the form of check or money order. There
is a $20 service fee for all returned checks. No refunds
will be issued after January 2, 2009. All purchases are
final after this date. After you provide your user ID a
password will be emailed to you to access the game. Once
logged into the game, you must choose your team's player
roster via the drop down boxes provided on the player
selection page. All teams are placed in a single common
league. HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy Football runs January
3, 2009 through February 1, 2009. Entries will be accepted
from December 15, 2008 to 3:00 PM ET, January 3, 2009. All
dates and times are subject to change. HeySportsFans takes
no responsibility for misdirected entries or for entries
that are lost, damaged or corrupted in the web transmission.
HeySportsFans reserves the right to disqualify any entry
that has been incorrectly completed or contains invalid or
incorrect information.
Your roster must consist of
a total of eleven (11) players and three (3) teams: 3
Quarterbacks, 3 Running Backs, 3 Wide Receivers, 1 Tight
End, 1 Place Kicker, and 3 Team Defense/Special Teams. Your
roster must consist of players listed in the HeySportsFans
Playoff Fantasy Football list of players at the time of
registration or trade, as the case may be. Players may not
be listed with their current team due to release,
retirement, or trade. Inclusion in the list does not
guarantee that those players or teams will participate in
playoff games.
The following system of
selecting players is used for selecting your original team
roster AND for trading players. Players may be selected
through the Internet site free of charge, 24 hours a day. A
player selection/trade is defined as dropping one player
from your team and adding another player. A player MUST be
exchanged for another player at the SAME position (e.g., a
quarterback for a quarterback, etc.) and within the SAME
group. Player selections will end and your roster will be
frozen for the duration of the postseason at 3:30 PM ET,
January 3, 2009. To ensure you have the correct roster
in place, when you have completed your selections, you MUST
click on the "Activate Player Selections" button at the
bottom of the trading page. If you exit without activating
player selections, none of the trades will be accepted. All
approved trades are final.
Team scores will be
available through the Internet site the day after the final
game of each week is played. Your weekly ranking will be
available beginning Monday, January 7, 2008. Points are
awarded based on the HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy Football
scoring system.
Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Wide Receivers, and Tight
Ends: Passing/Receiving: 1 point per 30 positive yards,
rounded down to the nearest 1/10th of 1 point. (.1 points
per 3 yards passing/receiving) Rushing: 1 point per 10
positive yards, rounded down to the nearest 1/10th of 1
point. (.1 points per 1 yards rushing) Reception: 0.5
points. Offensive Touchdown (pass, rush, reception) = 6
points. Kick/Punt Return Touchdown = 6 points. 2 point
conversion (pass, rush, or reception) = 2 points.
Interception or Lost Fumble = minus 3 points.
Place Kickers: Field Goal = 3 points, Extra Point = 1
point, Missed/Blocked field goal or extra point = minus 1
point
Team Defense/Special Teams: Defensive Touchdown
(fumble or interception return) = 6 points. Kick/Punt return
for touchdown = 6 points. Safety = 2 points. Sack = 1 point.
Interception = 1 point. Allowing 0 points in a game = 20
points. Allowing 2-10 points in a game = 10 points. Allowing
11-20 points in a game = 5 points.
Contest weeks run Monday to Sunday and each contest week is
scored separately. Scoring is based only on the games
actually played each week. If for any reason, a player's
game is postponed (due to weather, etc.) you will receive
points for that game only if you have the player on your
team roster the day the game is officially completed. You
only have until the end of a contest week to dispute any
score for the previous week. Scores will not be changed for
previous contest weeks and the scores posted by
HeySportsFans for a particular contest week will be final
once the following contest week is over. Statistics for
games that are postponed will be counted in the weeks when
the games are actually played.

reason, the Internet site or any portion of the contest is
not capable of running as planned, including, without
limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering,
unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any
other cause beyond the control of HeySportsFans which
corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness,
integrity, or proper conduct of this game. HeySportsFans is
not responsible for any error, omission, interruption,
deletion, defect, delay in operation, faulty transmission or
communication, line failure, theft, destruction, or
unauthorized access to contest activities conducted or
information transmitted via the Internet. HeySportsFans is
not responsible for any problem or technical malfunction of
any telephone network, telephone line, cable network, cable
line, computer on-line system, server, equipment, or
software. HeySportsFans is not responsible for the failure
of any e-mail entry or any trade to be applied to a
participant's account due to technical problems or traffic
congestion on the Internet or at any web site, phone or fax
or cable lines, or any combination thereof. HeySportsFans is
not responsible for any injury or damage to a participant's
computer related to or resulting from participation in this
contest (including, without limitation, damage by
virus).
Grand Prizes: The
Grand Prize, awarded to the participant who has the highest
cumulative score for the season will win $500. The
participant with the second-highest score for the season
will win $150. The participant with the third-highest score
for the season will win a $50 HeySportsFans Gift
Certificate. The participantswith the fourth-highest and
fifth-highest scores for the season will each win a $25
HeySportsFans Gift Certificate. The participants with the
sixth-highest through twenty-fifth-highest scores for the
season will each win a $10 HeySportsFans Gift
Certificate.
Tie Breakers: The tie breaker for determining the
Grand Prize and all other prizes is the player who estimates
closest to the total combined score for the Super Bowl
without going over that total. This estimate is inputted on
the same page of the Internet site as player selections are
made. If for any reason the Super Bowl is canceled, this tie
breaker will apply to the last game played of the season.
The second tie breaker will be the player who estimates
closest to the total combined score for the Super Bowl. Any
additional tiebreakers will be a skill test tie breaker.
Gift Certificates: Gift certificates are
nontransferable, have no cash value, must be used within one
year of issuance and may only be used once. Gift
certificates may be applied to the order total for fantasy
game purchases only. HeySportsFans does not issue or carry
credit for order totals less than zero. No more than five
(5) gift certificates may used together towards any single
HeySportsFans game by any single individual.
Additional Prize Information: Prizes are not
transferable and may not be substituted, except that
HeySportsFans reserves the right to substitute a prize of
equal or greater value if a prize is unavailable. Winners
are responsible for all applicable taxes on prizes received.
All winners of prize values of $600 or above will receive a
Federal 1099 form showing the value of the prize awarded.
All winners will be required to sign and return an affidavit
of eligibility and waiver of liability and other documents,
including providing their Social Security Number, prior to
receiving their prize. Canadian residents may be required to
answer additional time-limited skill-testing questions as a
condition to being awarded a prize. Canadian winners are
subject to withholding of a portion of their winnings as
required by law. By participating, you agree that
HeySportsFans may use your name, image, likeness and
hometown for publicity and advertising purposes without
additional compensation,except where prohibited by law.
Chances of winning are dependent on the total number of
entries received and the skill used in choosing your
players. Minimum of 50 paid entries is required to hold this
contest. All winners will be notified by e-mail and/or U.S.
Mail. Winners have thirty (30) days from the date
notification is sent to claim prizes. Unclaimed prizes or
prizes for which the winner's prize notification cannot be
delivered based upon the information given to HeySportsFans
during registration will be awarded to the next highest
finisher. A complete list of winners receiving prizes may be
obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped(U.S. postage
only) envelope to: HeySportsFans Fantasy Football, 700 Tabor
Drive, Scotts Valley, CA 95066. (WA and VT residents may
omit return postage).
If for any reason
HeySportsFans experiences technical difficulty with the
online trading database, changes to the rosters will not be
taken until the online trading database is reopened. If for
any reason (including, but not limited to, strikes,lockouts,
acts of God, technical difficulties, governmental
intervention, and other events not within the reasonable
control of HeySportsFans) the National Football League
experiences a work stoppage and/or HeySportsFans cannot, in
its best business judgment, reasonably continue the contest,
then HeySportsFans Fantasy Football will not resume until
both the National Football League resumes its schedule and
HeySportsFans resumes normal business, if ever.
HeySportsFans is not
responsible for any damage, loss, injury, or expenses
incurred by a contestant as a result of enrolling, playing,
or winning. All entries, along with all copyright,
trademark, publicity, and other proprietary rights and
goodwill associated therewith, become the property of
HeySportsFans upon submission, and will not be returned to
any entrant. All dollar amounts specified herein are in U.S.
dollars. HeySportsFans Fantasy Football is not affiliated
with or endorsed by the NFL or any NFL team. HEYSPORTSFANS
RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES TO THE CONTEST AND/OR
THESE RULES AS THE SEASON PROGRESSES. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
To receive a copy of the official rules and a team selection
entry form, void of all services, send a letter size,
self-addressed stamped envelope to: HeySportsFans Playoff
Fantasy Football Alternative Entry, 700 Tabor Drive, Scotts
Valley, CA 95066. (WA and VT residents may omit return
postage). One request per household. One request per
envelope. All requests must be received by December 15,
2009. Any disputes must be mailed to HeySportsFans Playoff
Fantasy Football, 700 Tabor Drive, Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
No phone calls regarding disputes will be accepted. All
issues or disputes,including but not limited to player
selections, scoring, infractions of these rules and disputes
among participants, will be reviewed and settled by the
HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy Football advisory board, whose
decisions shall be final. Any participant is entitled to
cancel registration in the game. Any controversy or claim
arising out of or relating to this contest, whether asserted
in contract, tort, statute, or otherwise (including whether
or not such controversies or claims are arbitrable) shall be
settled by binding arbitration administered by the American
Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration
Rules then in effect. All hearings and proceedings shall
take place in Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County, California,
using California law (excluding conflict of law rules), and
without regard to the California General Arbitration Act or
the Federal Arbitration Act. HeySportsFans shall not be
liable for any consequential, punitive or exemplary damages.
If any provision of these rules should ever be held to be
invalid or unenforceable, such invalid or unenforceable
provision may be revised by HeySportsFans and,whether or not
revised, such provision shall not affect any other
provisions of these rules, and such other provisions shall
continue in full force and effect. By participating in or
entering HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy Football, you (i)
acknowledge acceptance of these rules and agree to adhere to
and be bound by them, (ii) release, hold harmless, and waive
any rights to recovery against HeySportsFans and its
sponsors, suppliers, contractors, directors, managers,
officers,employees, partners, owners, and agents from and
against any claims, expenses, damages, and/or liability
incurred by you or your representatives in connection with
or related to the operation of, or your participation in,
HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy Football, and (iii) agree to
hold HeySportsFans harmless from all typographical,
statistical, transaction, and communication errors or
omissions. HeySportsFans reserves the right to make
corrections to any and all material and information to
correct such errors or omissions. HeySportsFans specifically
disclaim any and all representations and warranties (whether
express or implied) in connection with the contest and/or
your participation in it. HeySportsFans reserves the right
to disqualify any participant for suspected cheating or
non-adherence to the Official Rules. Prizes awarded in
HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy Football may be subject to
legal restrictions. Participants agree that in the event a
legal authority challenges the award of prizes to winners of
HeySportsFans Playoff Fantasy Football, HeySportsFans has
the sole right to determine whether or not to award such
prizes. HeySportsFans reserves the right to make any
changes, in its sole and absolute discretion, deems
necessary to the contest and rules as the season progresses.
